Did you suffer humiliating childhood experiences as a JW?
by yadda yadda 2 inin john cedar's (jwsurvey.org) latest excellent article on his blog about a us teacher that got reprimanded for trying to force a jw boy to salute the american flag, he relates a similar childhood experience where he was terribly humiliated at school in view of his classmates.. this reminded me of a similar humiliating experience i suffered at school, when i was 11 years old.
during our school's end of year 'prom night' (not actually called that in the country i live) which was in the style of a disco night, my unbalanced jw mother came to pick me up early and stormed right into the hall and grabbed my arm and pulled me out in front of all my friends right in the middle of the dancing.
on the way out she gave the teachers a lecture about the music being far too loud and how unwholesome the whole thing was for children of my age.

I sat in the library during pep rallies in high school. Then I finally end up going to one and see an elders 2 sons there! I justended up just going to the rest of them. It wasn't just one paticuliar instance of humiliation it was just the whole time feeling like not belonging. Friends would buy me Christmas gifts and I would feel bad because there was no way my mom would let me go to the store to get gifts for them so I ended up giving some off my used things from my room. 4th grade my mom came up for a field trip &she saw a picture of a bunny for Easter I had colored, she just said she was really disappointed in me. Its very conflicting emotions to deal with, what's right and wrong.

there was a picture hanging up in our kingdom hall for awhile of a kingdom hall in california that had survived a cali mud slide and you could see the mud flowing on each side of the hall and it was the only building left standing.

A lunchtime spotting of JWs on their break from door-knocking...
by Jim_TX innot that big of a deal, but it is kind of humorous.... my wife and i went to a local mcdonald's for lunch.
yes, i know all the bad things that are in their foods... but it's difficult to find lunch places that are 'healthy' and low-cost.. anyway, she went and sat down, and i ordered the food.
as i came round the corner with the tray filled with burger, fries and the cups for our sodas, i spotted a group of four women sitting at one of the tables.. folks... i just want to make one thing very clear.

early mornings getting up driving around finding apartments with laundry mats to leave mags in, then after I left moving into one of those places realizing that eventually the cleaning people end up throwing the mags in the trash.
i'll admit i did own some floral dresses. not sure why.

I was also depressed while pioneering. All the time I kept thinking the phrase we are to be the " happy people" right.
I thought of ways to kill myself. played with knives drank. glad I never went thru with it. wish I could get back to my youthful years that I wasted being depressed. I guess it does help now that I never ever want to waste years being depressed. life is to short.
I remember seeing a few people over the years either crying at meetings assemblys or even before service.
I have heard of 2 people both had been out for awhile, older men that had grown up in the truth. I did not know them personally.

some one broke into a sister's apartment and was about to rape her and she yelled out jehovah help me over and over.the guy got scared and left.
out in service a brother was walking back to his car leaving a house and some dogs came out after him he gave a quick prayer and all of a sudden the dogs stopped.
some one was praying to God for help at home and then a witness shows up at there door.

Any born-ins have this attitude about converts?
by Nambo inso there was this great gang of us, from south london, manchester and wolverhampton, went to socialise with a group in fishguard in wales.. amongst the conversations one of the single sisters stated, "i could never marry anybody who used to be in the world".. i guess a lifetime of knocking on doors had given her the impression there couldnt possibly be a convert in her midst, never mind later alone with her in her mgb.. so whats with this, did you think we had rat scabies or were possesed by demons or something?.

I was a born in but then left for years and came back and then I felt like convert. after awhile it just seems like everyone has there own life and little group to hang out with so trying to fit in is hard. I always wondered if thats how people on the outside that eventually come in feel. Also on a side note being in for a long time seems I saw a lot of bible studies held but very few actually come in and baptized!
